With the slogan "Together for Tourism", the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 has been formally unveiled by the government on Friday.

Lonely Planet has chosen Nepal as one of the world's Top 10 Countries for next year in LONELY PLANET'S BEST IN TRAVEL 2010, published this week.

New Provision in TIMS

The cabinet meeting held recently has changed some provisions related to Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS). The new changes will come into effect from March 15.

Historic Cabinet Meeting in Everest Base Camp

The historic cabinet meeting at Kalapatthar, in the foothills of Mt. Everest at a height of 18,192 feet above sea level concluded successfully. The meeting which was organized in a bid to draw national and international attention to climate change was attended by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and 23 ministers. Though the meeting was expected to run for around 20 minutes from 8:30 am, it was extended to nearly an hour owing to the favorable weather.

SpiceJet to fly in Nepal

KATHMANDU, DEC 12 - SpiceJet, a low-cost airline operator based in New Delhi, India has announced that it would commence its first international connectivity with Nepal beginning from June 2010.

Nepal Sales mission to Australia

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) organized Nepal Sales Mission to Australian cities of Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney from June 30 to July 4. NTB promoted culture, history, wildlife and golfing in Australia. Apart from Mt. Everest and Himalayas, NTB also promoted Nepal as the birth place of Lord Buddha and home to legendary Gorkha soldiers.
